Build, new decks

Custom Deck Construction

Built around your house, your yard, and how you live.

From the first sketch to the last board, one crew handles your project: design help, materials, permits, and construction. You always know who is working on your deck and where things stand.

  • Pressure-treated, cedar, and composite options
  • Permits handled with the city or county
  • Built to North Carolina residential code

Wood Decks

The classic look, framed right.

Pressure-treated lumber and cedar, built the traditional way. Wood costs less up front and ages well with a coat of stain every few years. We will show you exactly what maintenance to expect.

  • Pressure-treated pine and cedar
  • Solid framing and proper hardware
  • Staining and care guidance

Composite Decks

Trex, TimberTech, and almost no upkeep.

Composite boards cost more at the start and ask for almost nothing after: no staining, no sealing, no rotten boards. We are not locked to one manufacturer, so we recommend what fits your budget and the look you want.

  • Trex, TimberTech, and other major brands
  • No staining or sealing, ever
  • Long manufacturer warranties

Elevated & Multi-Level Decks

Built for Western North Carolina hills.

Sloped lots are the norm around here, and they are where we do some of our best work. Elevated and multi-level decks demand serious footings, framing, and railings, and that is exactly what we build.

  • Second-story and multi-level designs
  • Footings and framing built for height
  • Code-compliant railings and stairs

Covered Decks & Pergolas

Shade that adds months of use.

A roofed section or a pergola keeps your deck usable through the hot months and protects the boards underneath. We build freestanding pergolas and covered sections tied into your home.

  • Pergolas and roofed deck sections
  • Freestanding or attached to your home
  • Wood or composite, matched to your deck

Repair & restore, existing decks

Deck Repair

Fix what is broken. Know what can wait.

Rotten boards, soft spots, wobbly railings, popping nails, warped boards. We repair what needs fixing and tell you straight what can wait until next year. No upselling repairs you do not need.

  • Board and joist replacement
  • Railing and stair fixes
  • Honest assessment of what can wait
Call about a repair: (828) 620-7406

Deck Resurfacing

A new deck surface on a solid frame.

If your frame is still sound, resurfacing gives you the look of a new deck for much less than a full replacement. New boards, new railings if you want them, same structure.

  • New deck boards over your existing frame
  • Option to upgrade to composite
  • New railings and trims available
Call about resurfacing: (828) 620-7406

Deck Replacement

When repairs stop making sense.

When the frame itself is failing, repairs just buy time. We tear out the old deck and build new from the footings up, which also means you can change the layout, size, or material.

  • Full tear-off and haul-away
  • New footings, frame, and deck boards
  • Chance to redesign size and layout
Call about a replacement: (828) 620-7406

Upgrade, what you already have

Additions & Extensions

More deck without starting over.

If your existing deck is solid but too small, an extension is usually the smart move. We tie the new section into your structure properly so the whole deck works as one.

  • Extensions at ground or upper level
  • Structural tie-in done right
  • Materials matched to your existing deck
Call about an extension: (828) 620-7406

Railings & Stairs

Safe, solid, and up to code.

Sometimes a deck does not need a rebuild. It needs railings that do not shake and stairs that feel safe. We install and replace railings and stairs to current code, in wood or composite.

  • Railing installation and replacement
  • Stair repair and rebuilds
  • Code-compliant heights and spacing

FAQ

Before You Call

Three quick answers about deck projects in Asheville and Western North Carolina.

How long does a deck project take?

It depends on the size, the material, and whether the city or county needs to review plans. A repair can be done in a day or two. A full custom build takes longer. After we see your project in person, we give you a schedule and we stick to it.

Do you work on decks you didn't build?

Yes. Most of our repair and resurfacing work is on decks built by someone else. The first thing we do is get underneath and check the frame, because that decides what makes sense: repair, resurface, or replace.

What composite brands do you install?

Trex, TimberTech, and the other major brands. We are not locked to one manufacturer, so we can recommend what fits your budget and the look you want, and tell you the honest differences between them.

Let's talk about your deck.

Tell us what you have in mind. Peak Deck Builders will come out, look at everything, and give you real numbers for your project.
